Doing something

They longer i live, the more depressing it becomes to live in the US.  There is so much sin, depravity, misdirection, deception and selfishness, not just in myself but in culture at large, that the idea of "doing something", ever increasingly looms large.
But the big question is, what?  How we answer that reveals what we believe is important, feasible and effective.  Unfortunately, far too many people think that politics is the answer.  Politics had its place, but redeeming culture is not its place.
We may be in for a really rough ride over these next few years.  We will probably have to live through what we have sown.

  1. I'm glad you brought this up, because it is an issue that frequently weighs on my mind as well. When society is on a cultural downhill slide and picking up speed, it seems obvious to me that a Christian is expected by God to maintain his/her spiritual integrity, regardless of those around him/her racing to the bottom. This may run contrary to those who compromise their religion in order to "fit in" with the world - no thanks.
But are we to actively proselytize just as back when society was receptive and not cancerous, or are we to consider people swine to not toss pearls before, until otherwise demonstrated? As an earlier saint of the church famously said, "Preach the gospel at all times, and if necessary, use words." From your perspective, is it more appropriate in these days for Christians to turn their focus inward and upward? Because while I'm quite fine with abiding by Gods Law in my own life, I'm not really the megaphone-on-the-streetcorner type, and tend to presume people are uninterested, actively hostile, or unwilling to part with their preconceived notions about Christianity. Like, "I may not have any answers but I sure don't want *yours*, Christian." I don't lose a second of sleep over secular ridicule, and we have not yet shed blood for the faith, but who knows what the next year brings.
I hope to see more of your speculation on this matter at some point.
